Apple Confirms Siri’s AI Upgrades Delayed Until 2026

Apple has officially confirmed that the delayed AI upgrades for Siri will not launch until 2026. This clarification came in a recent interview with Apple executives Craig Federighi and Greg “Joz” Joswiak.

The new Siri features were initially postponed from their planned release with iOS 18. At the time, Apple provided a vague timeline, stating they expected to roll out the improvements “in the coming year.” This led to speculation about whether the updates would arrive by the end of 2025.

During WWDC, Apple used similar language, with Federighi describing the update as “more personal” and promising to share more “in the coming year.” However, no precise date was given.

In a recent interview with Tom’s Guide, journalist Mark Spoonauer pressed Apple for a definitive release year. After an initial noncommittal response from Federighi, Joswiak confirmed the upgrades would come in 2026.

Federighi’s deference to Joswiak during the conversation suggests that 2026 is now Apple’s official release target for Siri’s AI enhancements. This delay likely pushes the feature launch beyond initial iOS versions like 26.0, 26.1, or 26.2, possibly debuting around iOS 26.4 in spring 2026.
