Apple is working on a new MacBook equipped with the A18 Pro chip, according to backend code analysis reported by MacRumors.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently shared that Apple plans to launch a low-cost 13-inch MacBook powered by an iPhone chip. The device will come in multiple colors, including silver, blue, pink, and yellow.

MacRumors discovered references to this device, labeled “Mac17,1,” in Apple Intelligence backend code last summer, confirming its use of the A18 Pro chip. This would mark Apple’s first Mac powered by an iPhone-derived chip. Until now, all Apple silicon Macs have featured M-series chips, known for higher core counts, expanded memory support, and better external display capabilities.

The A18 Pro chip was first introduced in last year’s iPhone 16 Pro. Kuo predicts mass production of the new MacBook to begin in late Q4 2025 or early Q1 2026, positioning its launch within the first half of next year.
