Apple Reverses Controversial Design Changes in Liquid Glass and Finder Icon

Following the introduction of new visual elements for its upcoming operating systems at WWDC 2025, Apple has rolled back some design changes after user feedback.

The latest developer betas show adjustments to the Liquid Glass interface and the Finder app icon, according to 9to5Mac.

Liquid Glass, characterized by layered transparency, sparked mixed reactions. While some users appreciated the effect, others found it visually cluttered and difficult to read, especially within the Control Center. In response, the second developer beta of iOS 26 increased the background’s darkness and blur when the Control Center is active to improve clarity.

Another debated update involved the Finder icon in macOS Tahoe. A previous beta had reversed its long-standing color scheme by placing blue on the right and white on the left—a departure from decades of Mac design. This change drew negative reactions, prompting Apple to restore the original color layout in the current beta.
