Apple Reverses Design Changes to Liquid Glass and Finder Icon in Developer Betas

Following the announcement of new visual features for its upcoming operating systems at WWDC 2025, Apple has retracted some recent design changes based on developer feedback.

According to 9to5Mac, the latest developer betas show adjustments to the Liquid Glass user interface and the Finder app icon.

Liquid Glass, which introduced layered transparency effects, faced mixed reactions. While some users appreciated the aesthetic, others criticized it for making elements like the Control Center harder to read. In response, the second developer beta of iOS 26 darkened and increased the blur of the background when the Control Center is active.

Another notable change involved the Finder icon in macOS Tahoe. A previous beta inverted its colors—placing blue on the right and white on the left—breaking a longstanding design tradition. Due to negative feedback, Apple has restored the original color layout in the current beta.
