At WWDC 2025, Apple unveiled new features for AirPods, including the ability to control iPhone and iPad cameras by tapping the stem on AirPods 4 and AirPods Pro 2. This functionality works with the native Camera app and supported third-party camera apps.
Additionally, Apple introduced studio-quality recording on these AirPods models. Users can pause and resume recordings by tapping the stem, with improved vocal clarity and natural texture across apps such as Voice Memos, message dictation, phone calls, and FaceTime.
These features will be available on iPhone, iPad, and Mac with the release of iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS Tahoe 26 this fall.
