Coca-Cola is expanding its partnership with Disney through a new “Star Wars”-themed campaign featuring ads, collectible bottles, and augmented reality (AR) experiences.
The campaign includes a spot titled “Refresh Your Galaxy,” which depicts fans in costume turning a disrupted movie screening into a fun reenactment of iconic scenes from the franchise. Featuring characters in a theater setting styled like the Mos Eisley cantina, the ad highlights a pivotal battle that sparks audience participation.
Consumers can scan QR codes on cans and ads to access an AR experience that enables them to record and share holographic messages, mimicking the franchise’s familiar communication style.
Starting this month, Coca-Cola will offer 27 limited-edition cans and bottles showcasing popular characters such as Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Cassian Andor, and Luke Skywalker. An additional three designs exclusive to Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort feature The Mandalorian, Grogu (Baby Yoda), a First Order Stormtrooper, and Chewbacca.
This campaign taps into summer travel trends and renewed interest in “Star Wars,” fueled by recent franchise expansions like the streaming series “Andor.” It also continues Coca-Cola’s focus on personalization and collectibles, building on the success of its “Share a Coke” campaign which incorporates QR code-driven digital features.
