Glauber Contessoto, known as the “Dogecoin Millionaire,” has now achieved millionaire status with the meme coin Pepe after exchanging his Ethereum holdings earlier this year.
Contessoto gained recognition in 2021 when his Dogecoin investment surpassed $1 million. Currently, he holds approximately $1.116 million in Pepe across six verified wallets, while his Dogecoin balance remains around 5 million tokens, valued near $920,000 despite a recent price dip.
In spring 2024, Contessoto invested $100,000 across three meme coins: Pepe, Brett, and Dogwifhat. Pepe and Brett have appreciated since, whereas Dogwifhat has fallen 82% from its peak.
Frustrated by Ethereum’s recent poor performance, Contessoto sold his ETH position in February and redirected those funds entirely into Pepe. The coin’s 36.96% price rise since then secured his second meme coin millionaire title.
Contessoto views Pepe as one of the most recognizable internet memes after Dogecoin, appreciating its edgier image compared to the latter’s wholesome appeal. Originating as an innocent comic character by Matt Furie, Pepe later became controversially associated with hate symbols by the alt-right movement, though Furie has fought to reclaim the meme’s meaning.
Looking ahead, Contessoto aims to become a millionaire through other meme coins like Brett and Floki, describing his pursuit as “fun” and a personal endeavor.
Regarding his funding sources, Contessoto credits earnings from YouTube, voiceover work, merchandise, documentary engagements, social media influence, and sponsored campaigns since rising to fame in 2021.
Despite repeatedly stating he would sell some Dogecoin, he has yet to do so. He insists he will not hold past 2025 without divesting at least half of his DOGE holdings.
