Fairphone has unveiled its latest smartphone, the Fairphone 6, nearly two years after the previous model. This new device is 9 percent lighter and smaller, yet features a larger 4,415mAh battery, which can last up to 53 hours on a full charge. The battery is easily user-replaceable by removing seven screws.

The Fairphone 6 emphasizes modularity, allowing users to swap out 12 parts—including the screen, battery, and USB port—with a single standard screwdriver. This design supports sustainability and long-term repair. The back panel is more modular than before, with the lower section detachable via two screws to attach accessories like a card holder or finger loop for better grip.

The phone runs on a Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor, with 8GB RAM and 512GB storage expandable up to 2TB via SDXC card. It has a 6.31-inch LTPO OLED display featuring a 120Hz refresh rate, down slightly in size from the Fairphone 5’s 6.46-inch screen but with a faster refresh rate.

Camera-wise, the Fairphone 6 has a 50MP main and a 13MP ultrawide rear camera, plus a 32MP front camera for selfies and video calls. This is a downgrade from the Fairphone 5, which had 50MP sensors on all cameras.

Physically, the device has a less pronounced camera module, with lenses flush on the back panel. The phone comes in black, green, and white color options.

Availability starts now through the company’s online store and European retailers at €599 (approximately $696). In the U.S., the device will be available through Murena with deliveries expected in August. The U.S. version runs /e/OS, a privacy-focused, de-Googled Android variant, priced at $899.

Fairphone includes a five-year warranty and promises eight years of software support, aiming to extend the device’s lifespan. However, to maintain modularity and repairability, the phone carries an IP55 rating for dust and water resistance, meaning it tolerates splashes and jets of water but is not fully waterproof.

In addition to hardware updates, the Fairphone 6 introduces a new software feature called Fairphone Moments. Activated by a physical switch, it enables a switch between a full-featured smartphone and a minimalist mode focused on reducing distractions and promoting mindful technology use.
