Google has begun rolling out an option to move the address bar to the bottom of the screen in Chrome for Android. This update allows users to reposition the address bar along with the tab switcher and menu icons for easier access.
The traditional top placement of the Chrome Omnibox remains available. Google describes the change as a customization feature, stating it offers users flexibility based on hand size and device to enhance one-handed browsing comfort.
To enable the bottom address bar, users can long-press the address bar and select “Move address bar to bottom” from the menu, which also includes a “Copy link” option. Alternatively, the setting can be found in Settings > Address Bar.
The feature is rolling out gradually and is expected to reach all users within weeks. It requires the latest version of Chrome for Android. Chrome for iOS added this option earlier in 2023, and the Android version has been under consideration since late 2022.
