Google Photos Rolls Out Five New Features on iPhone Ahead of Android

Google Photos is introducing five new features exclusively for iPhone users before rolling them out to Android devices. These updates enhance photo viewing, management, and quick actions.

  • Light Mode Integration: The app now adapts to the iOS system theme, switching between light and dark modes automatically.
  • Glanceable Photo Data: Date, time, and location details are prominently displayed above each photo without needing manual activation. An action button next to this data provides quick access to About, Google Lens, Create, Cast, Save as, Download, or Delete options.
  • Updated Actions Menu: Some existing actions have moved to a new + button in the bottom bar, allowing users to organize photos into albums, archive them, or move them to a Locked Folder.
  • Improved Photo Stack Management: Users can tap an action button next to burst-mode or stacked photos to remove items, unstack groups, multi-select photos, or change the top pick within stacks.
  • Actionable Badges: New badges appear above photos for quickly changing categories, playing or pausing Live Photos, saving shared images, and managing backups or storage.

Currently, these features are available only on iPhones. Google has announced the updates will arrive on Android devices soon but has not provided a specific timeline.
