Google Photos has introduced several new features exclusively for iPhone users, with an Android release expected soon. The updates include a refined photo view, an improved actions menu, and interactive badges to enhance photo management.
- Light Mode Support: The app now adapts to the iOS system theme, switching between light and dark modes automatically.
- Glanceable Photo Details: Date, time, and location data are displayed prominently above each photo without requiring extra taps. An adjacent action button provides quick access to options like About, Google Lens, Create, Cast, Save as (for Live Photos), Download, and Delete from device.
- Reorganized Actions: Some existing features have been relocated under the Add to (+) button in the bottom bar, allowing users to add photos to albums, archive them, or move to the Locked Folder.
- Enhanced Photo Stack Management: A new action button on photo stacks and burst images lets users remove photos from stacks, unstack groups, multi-select images, and change the top pick within the stack.
- Actionable Badges: Badges appear above photos to facilitate quick actions such as changing photo categories, playing or pausing Live Photos, saving shared images to the library, and managing backups or storage.
While these features are live on Google Photos for iPhone, Google has not provided a specific timeline for when Android users will receive them.
