Jack Black reprises his role in the upcoming release of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4, launching on July 11. The actor returns as Officer Dick, a character he first voiced in the 2020 remake Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2. In the new game, Black also voices Dick’s U.K. twin, Constable Richard.
According to publisher Activision, Constable Richard was once mocked as a skater and sought revenge by becoming a strict enforcer. Game director Kurt Tillmanns told Variety that Black’s previous performance was well received and they wanted to expand his character’s story in this installment.
Tillmanns explained that the team adapted elements from the original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4, turning Officer Dick into a campus security sheriff overseeing a college setting. “This is an interesting evolution of Officer Dick’s midlife crisis of hating skaters,” he said. In the game, Dick is more empowered, extending his authority beyond the high school grounds.
Constable Richard, voiced by Black with a British accent, appears in the London level, taking on a similar role by challenging skaters there.
Tillmanns also highlighted the franchise’s tradition of diverse and imaginative environments. One new level features a pinball machine where players skate as miniature skaters. These unique settings inspire real-life skaters, according to professional athletes who have praised the game’s creative design.
