Leaked Image Suggests iPhone 17 Pro Will Adopt Vapor Chamber Cooling

A recent leak from leaker Majin Bu reveals a possible new cooling solution for the iPhone 17 Pro lineup: vapor chamber technology. This method, common in gaming laptops and high-end Android phones, addresses the increasing challenge of heat management in powerful smartphones.

Unlike the current graphite sheet cooling system that spreads heat across surfaces, a vapor chamber uses phase change. Liquid inside a sealed metal plate evaporates when heated, moves to cooler areas where it condenses, and then cycles back, enabling faster and more even heat dissipation.

Past reports suggest Apple may combine this vapor chamber system with the existing graphite sheets rather than replace them entirely.

The leaked pre-production image reportedly shows the base plate of the vapor chamber featuring micro-perforated copper patterns typical of vapor chamber design.

According to Bu, the driving force behind this upgrade is the A19 Pro chip, which is expected to produce significant heat not only from gaming and GPU tasks but also from running demanding on-device generative AI models, requiring sustained thermal efficiency.

Apple is also said to be exploring lighter chassis materials such as aluminum to improve heat dissipation through the phone’s frame.

Will Apple implement vapor chamber cooling in the iPhone 17 Pro this year? Users are encouraged to share their experiences with iPhone heat issues.
