Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max models are rumored to incorporate a vapor chamber cooling system. A leaker known as Majin Bu recently shared an image of an alleged copper thermal plate, which could be part of this system.

Vapor chamber cooling is common in high-end Android smartphones, such as Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Ultra, and offers better heat dissipation compared to the graphite sheets previously used in iPhones. If accurate, this would mark the first time an iPhone uses vapor chamber technology.

The system consists of a sealed metal chamber containing liquid that vaporizes when the device heats up, spreading heat across the surface before condensing and repeating the cycle. This would help prevent overheating during demanding tasks, improving thermal management for the expected A19 Pro chip.

Majin Bu’s past leaks include correctly predicting a Mac-like menu bar in iPadOS 26 but inaccurately stating that iOS 26 would bring Stage Manager to iPhones with USB-C ports. As such, this report remains unconfirmed ahead of the likely September launch of the iPhone 17 Pro models.
