Google has introduced new Gemini AI functions for Chromebook Plus laptops, highlighted by Lenovo’s new 14-inch flagship model launching today.
The AI features include Select to Search, enabling users to long-press the launcher icon or capture a screenshot to search text or images directly on the device. Captured text can be sent to Google Workspace apps or the calendar, with complex terminology simplified for easier understanding. The Chromebook’s Quick Insert key, now renamed the “Gemini button,” offers quick access to AI-generated images.
Additional features exclusive to Lenovo’s new Chromebook Plus 14 include a smart grouping tool that automatically organizes tabs and documents related to the current task and built-in image editing in the Gallery app for automated functions like background removal and sticker creation. These enhancements use on-device AI.
The Lenovo Chromebook Plus 14 (10th-gen) starts at $649. It is powered by a MediaTek Kompanio Ultra chip, an eight-core ARM processor delivering up to 50 TOPS, with support for Wi-Fi 7 and dual external 4K monitors. The laptop features a 14-inch OLED display with 1920 x 1200 resolution and 400 nits brightness, with a touchscreen option starting at $749.
