Lenovo has announced the Legion Go 2 handheld gaming PC, set for release in October 2025 with a starting price of $1,049. The device features a premium build and high-end specifications aimed at portable PC gaming enthusiasts.
The Legion Go 2 runs Windows 11 Home and sports an 8.8-inch WUXGA OLED touchscreen display with a 144Hz refresh rate, 500 nits brightness, and support for variable refresh rate (VRR) and HDR. This marks a significant upgrade over the original Legion Go, which had an IPS panel and lacked VRR support.
Powered by up to an AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor with 8 cores and 16 threads (15-30W TDP), the handheld offers Radeon 890M graphics based on AMD’s Zen 5 and RDNA 3.5 architectures. It supports up to 32GB of 8000MHz LPDDR5X RAM and up to 2TB of NVMe SSD storage.
Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, two USB4 Type-C ports, a microSD card reader, and a 3.5mm audio jack. The device also features a single 24x24mm touchpad, detachable controllers, a built-in kickstand, and Hall Effect joysticks designed to prevent drift. Lenovo has equipped the Legion Go 2 with a 74Wh battery, a 50% increase over the original’s capacity, promising longer unplugged usage.
Measures with controllers attached, the handheld is 11.64 by 5.38 by 1.66 inches and weighs 2.03 pounds (920 grams). It comes in Eclipse Black color.
The Legion Go 2 is positioned as a strong competitor to the upcoming ROG Xbox Ally X, which features a similar AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme APU with slightly lower RAM and storage capacities. The Legion Go 2 offers a larger, higher-resolution OLED screen and additional features like a kickstand and detachable controllers for tabletop gaming, which the Xbox Ally X lacks. However, the Ally X may have an advantage in ergonomic grip design.
With its release timed for the 2025 holiday season and premium specs, the Legion Go 2 provides a compelling option for handheld PC gamers. Lenovo and Windows Central plan to conduct in-depth reviews and performance benchmarking upon its launch.
