Google has introduced new Gemini AI features for Chromebook Plus laptops, highlighted by Lenovo’s latest 14-inch flagship model.
The AI upgrades include a select-to-search function allowing users to long press the launcher icon or take screenshots for Google searches based on on-screen text or images. Captured text can be imported into Google Workspace apps like Docs or Sheets, and technical text can be simplified for easier understanding. The “Gemini button,” replacing the Caps Lock key, now offers a shortcut for AI-powered image generation.
Additional features exclusive to Lenovo’s Chromebook Plus 14 include a smart grouping tool that organizes tabs and documents based on active tasks, and enhanced image editing within the Gallery app for automatic background removal and sticker creation. All AI functions run on-device.
The Lenovo Chromebook Plus (14-inch, 10th Gen) starts at $649 and is powered by a MediaTek Kompanio Ultra chip delivering up to 50 TOPS. It features an eight-core ARM processor, Wi-Fi 7, and supports two external 4K monitors.
