Minecraft’s upcoming update will give copper a more practical role in gameplay. Mojang highlighted that although copper is plentiful and often mined, it typically ends up stored without much use. The new update aims to change this by introducing copper chest, armor, tools, and weapons.
This update is now available in Bedrock Beta and Preview builds. It marks the first addition of a new tool and armor tier since the Nether update. Given copper’s abundance and ease of discovery compared to iron, Mojang expects it to be especially useful for early game progression.
Additionally, the Copper Golem, which was initially introduced as a candidate in the 2021 Mob Vote (won by the Allay), has been redesigned with new mechanics. The golem will now transfer items from copper chests to empty chests or those containing matching items, assisting with inventory management.
More details can be found in the developer video, although features may still change before the update’s final release.
