Netflix and NASA announced a partnership to livestream rocket launches and other space events directly to Netflix subscribers starting later this summer. The collaboration will provide access to NASA+ feeds, including launches, spacewalks, and live views from the International Space Station.
This initiative is part of Netflix’s broader push into live content, following previous livestreams like NFL games, a Beyoncé halftime show, and a high-profile boxing match between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul. Netflix also debuted a live talk show with comedian John Mulaney earlier this year.
NASA+, launched in 2023, is available for free on NASA’s website and app. Financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed. NASA aims to leverage Netflix’s 700-million-strong audience to increase public interest in space exploration by offering live mission coverage and scenic views of Earth.
Officials referenced the National Aeronautics and Space Act, which encourages sharing space discoveries with broad audiences. The partnership comes amid growing public fascination with space, highlighted recently by celebrity spaceflights such as Katy Perry’s ride on Blue Origin’s New Shepard.
NASA+ content on Netflix will complement existing programming, with specific launch schedules to be announced soon.
