The fan-favorite golf series returns with Everybody’s Golf: Hot Shots, launching on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC on September 4 after nearly a decade-long break. The game features classic three-button shot mechanics and includes both single-player and multiplayer modes.

However, the Steam page reveals some in-game art, specifically tree and leaf textures across the 10 golf courses, were created using generative AI tools under developer supervision. This disclosure has sparked mixed reactions among players, with some concerned about the impact on game quality and others raising ethical objections to AI-generated content.

The new title also introduces characters like Pac-Man, available immediately to pre-order customers and unlockable through gameplay for others. The game marks the first sequel since 2017’s Everybody’s Golf on PS4.

While the game’s backgrounds do not show obvious signs of AI generation, the revelation may affect player perception. Similar controversies around AI use in gaming, such as comments from Smash Bros. director Masahiro Sakurai, have recently made headlines.
