Nintendo Pictures, a Tokyo-based CG animation and motion capture company owned by Nintendo, contributed to Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding 2: On the Beach for PS5, as shown in the game’s credits.
Originally known as Dynamo Pictures before Nintendo acquired and renamed it in 2022, the company focuses on creating visual content using Nintendo’s intellectual properties. Prior to the acquisition, Dynamo Pictures worked on CG for films, TV shows, and video games, including Final Fantasy XIII-2 and motion capture for Nier Replicant, Monster Hunter World, and Persona 5.
Since joining Nintendo, Nintendo Pictures has primarily contributed to Nintendo titles such as The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Pikmin 4, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Super Mario RPG, and Another Code: Recollection. The company’s involvement in Death Stranding 2 may stem from work completed before the acquisition or through pre-existing agreements, as it also supported the original Death Stranding as Dynamo Pictures.
On its website, Nintendo Pictures lists “motion capture recording services” separately from Nintendo IP projects, suggesting it may continue collaborating on non-Nintendo games. Since 2022, it has contributed to projects outside Nintendo, including motion capture and CG assistance for Toei Animation’s Pretty Cure anime series.
Following the acquisition, the company expressed its mission to make Nintendo characters recognized worldwide and produce memorable videos. Nintendo Pictures also plans to foster a creative environment by focusing on projects that engage both its team and global audiences.
Before becoming Nintendo Pictures, Dynamo Pictures worked on CG cutscenes for Metroid: Other M and produced Pikmin short films in collaboration with Shigeru Miyamoto for the Wii U and 3DS platforms.
