After more than a year of absence, Nintendo has resumed direct sales of first-party games and accessories on Amazon. Over the weekend, Amazon began offering titles and products for the Nintendo Switch 2, marking a shift from the previous period when these items were unavailable through the retailer.
Reports from April last year indicated that pre-orders for upcoming Nintendo titles, such as Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD, were being canceled on Amazon without explanation. Since then, new Nintendo games were only accessible via third-party sellers on the platform. Earlier this month, neither the Switch 2 nor its launch games and official accessories were available for pre-order on Amazon, frustrating many customers.
This weekend, as noted by IGN and others, first-party Nintendo titles including Donkey Kong Bananza, Super Mario Party Jamboree, and Kirby and the Forgotten Land + Star-Crossed World appeared for direct sale on Amazon. Although a listing for the Switch 2 briefly appeared, it has since been removed. These developments suggest that Nintendo and Amazon have resolved their issues and are preparing for a full return of Nintendo products to the retailer.
Neither company has confirmed the reasons behind the prior withdrawal. Some speculate the move was related to leaks caused by early shipments, but no official statements have been made.
