The Nintendo Switch 2 launched in the US on June 5 with a $450 price tag. While several retailers have offered the console both online and in stores, stock remains scarce as of mid-June.
Best Buy briefly restocked the Switch 2 for in-store pickup on June 11 around noon ET, but both the base console and Mario Kart World bundle quickly sold out again. Costco members may occasionally find bundles available, but overall availability is limited.
Many buyers found better chances buying from physical stores during launch week at retailers like Target, Best Buy, Walmart, and GameStop — Nintendo’s official partners. Checking local stores remains a viable option, though no guarantees exist.
- Best Buy: Limited in-store stock since June 5; online sales paused during launch week; occasional online restocks require in-store pickup but currently sold out.
- Walmart: Online sales started June 5 but now out of stock; some in-store availability with inventory varying by location.
- Target: In-store sales began June 5; online stock briefly restocked June 6 but is now gone. Checking nearby stores recommended.
- GameStop: In-store availability varies; online sales have been unavailable for days. Some premium bundles appeared briefly but are sold out.
- Costco and Sam’s Club: Membership retailers have offered limited bundles with Switch Online subscriptions; stock fluctuates and is often sold out.
- Verizon: Briefly sold the console to customers with Verizon service; now out of stock.
- Amazon and Newegg: Amazon has not listed the Switch 2 or first-party games. Newegg has shown listings but no confirmed sales dates; some third-party sellers offer inflated prices.
The Mario Kart World bundle has appeared more frequently online than the base console, despite costing $50 more, possibly due to the game’s $80 standalone price and popularity at launch.
Nintendo is also selling the Switch 2 via an invite-only system limited to Switch Online members with at least 12 months of membership and 50 hours of prior gameplay. Many who registered months ago have yet to receive invitations.
Switch 2 Games and Accessories
Alongside the console, Nintendo offers a range of accessories including controllers, cases, and cameras supporting the new GameChat feature. Most games, including Mario Kart World and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, are widely available, while Donkey Kong Bananza will release in mid-July and is available for pre-order.
Accessory stock is generally better than console stock, though official Nintendo carrying cases are often out of stock, prompting some buyers to seek third-party alternatives.
