Pi Network Launches Key Updates as Pi Coin Price Falls 16%

The Pi Network’s Core Team has introduced significant updates ahead of its annual Pi2Day event on June 28. These enhancements span desktop software improvements and integrated account management, despite recent declines in the Pi coin’s market value.

Pi Desktop Upgrade and Growing User Base

On Thursday, the network rolled out version 0.5.2 of its desktop application, renamed Pi Desktop (previously Pi Node). The update adds full window resizing, a public key display on the troubleshooting page, and better Docker compatibility.

Currently, Pi Desktop has over 2.6 million active installations, with more than 400,000 nodes running across Testnet1, Testnet2, and Mainnet. An ambassador known as FireSide Pi highlighted these improvements as laying the groundwork for applications such as AI training and resource sharing with utility developers.

Integrated Account Management in Pi Browser

Simultaneously, the Pi Network introduced complete account management within the Pi Browser. This update allows users to update account details, complete KYC verification, access decentralized apps (dApps), and prepare for future exchange integration—all without switching apps.

This unified approach aims to reduce fragmentation and give users greater control over their digital identity and assets. The Core Team considers this a step toward decentralization, setting it apart from fragmented Web3 experiences.

KYC Streamlining and Market Response

Earlier, on June 19, Pi Network launched a KYC synchronization feature to speed up identity verification for pending users.

Despite these developments, the Pi coin price has dropped 16% in the past 48 hours and 4% in the past day. The downturn follows profit-taking after the market hype around the Chainlink-Mastercard partnership announcement shifted attention away from Pi.

The Core Team remains focused on delivering functional updates rather than vague promises as it moves toward full mainnet utility.
