Samsung is set to launch three new smartwatches next month: the Galaxy Watch 8, Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2025. All models will adopt the squircle design first introduced with last year’s Galaxy Watch Ultra, including the base Galaxy Watch 8.
These devices were previously identified in an APK teardown, confirming the design and features ahead of release. The Galaxy Watch 8 Classic recently appeared on eBay, matching official renders exactly.
The Galaxy Watch 8 Classic and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2025 share a similar look, though the Classic model retains a thicker bezel with notches for the rotating bezel—a popular feature expected to continue this year. It also includes the Quick button introduced on last year’s Ultra.
The base Galaxy Watch 8 features the new squircle shape, but the change is subtler compared to the Classic and Ultra models. Samsung is expected to offer the Galaxy Watch 8 in two sizes, likely around the 40mm and 44mm dimensions used for the Galaxy Watch 7.
The squircle design enhances durability with a cushion effect, originally aimed at outdoor users and hikers. While the Galaxy Watch 8 is less rugged than the Ultra, this design adds resilience without sacrificing style.
The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2025 carries minimal design changes beyond new color options. Notably, the bezel and Marine strap now come in a blue hue, contrasting last year’s orange and dark gray choices. This aligns with Samsung’s broader shift to blue as a signature color across its devices, seen earlier this year with the Galaxy S25 series.
Samsung is likely to announce these smartwatches at a Summer Unpacked event next month. Recent Galaxy Watch launch dates include:
- Galaxy Watch 7 Series: July 10, 2024
- Galaxy Watch 6 Series: August 11, 2023
- Galaxy Watch 5 Series: August 10, 2022
Following last year’s trend of earlier launches, the event is expected in July, with pre-orders opening the same day. Devices typically ship within two weeks after the announcement, often on a Thursday or Friday.
