Takahashi Iizuka, head of Sonic Team, has confirmed there are no current plans to remake or remaster Sonic Adventure. In a recent interview with Shacknews, Iizuka explained that updating the game to meet modern standards would require as much time and effort as creating a new title.
He stated, “I appreciate everyone who likes Sonic Adventure, but bringing the game up to the expectations of today’s gamers would demand about as much energy as making a new game. That’s why there are no plans at the moment. Instead, developing a brand-new Sonic title seems more practical.”
This stance contrasts with Iizuka’s earlier comments when he expressed interest in a remake to improve the original game’s rough elements. He has also previously shown interest in Sonic Adventure 3, though his current intentions remain unclear.
