Spotify Launches Redesigned Android Auto App with New Jam Feature

Spotify has updated its Android Auto app, introducing a redesigned interface and support for the new “Jam” feature, enhancing the in-car music experience.

Initially announced at Google I/O 2025, the update brings several improvements. A prominent “Downloaded” section now allows users to easily access offline music, useful in areas with poor signal. Downloaded tracks are also marked with an indicator when browsing albums or playlists.

The app features minor user interface tweaks and a new floating Search shortcut, enabling users to search for albums and tracks directly within Spotify. Previously, searches could only be conducted through Google Assistant, which would immediately play the content without displaying results.

The standout addition is Spotify Jam, accessible from the “Now Playing” screen. It generates a QR code that others can scan to join a shared music queue, allowing passengers to add songs while the driver maintains control. This collaborative feature is particularly convenient for road trips, and drivers can easily remove guests if needed.

This update corresponds with Spotify version 9.0.58.596 for Android and is available now on the Play Store.

Google has also confirmed that other media apps like Amazon Music and YouTube Music will soon adopt similar updates leveraging Android Auto’s enhanced media capabilities.
