A recent advertisement for the Switch 2 at London’s Oxford Circus tube station incorrectly states that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is “out now.” The game has not yet received an official release date, with a planned launch set for 2025.
Video Games Chronicle (VGC) confirmed the ad’s existence after personally visiting the station. The same advertising space also featured an “out now” promotion for Mario Kart World, which is accurate, suggesting the Metroid ad may be a mistake.
One explanation is that the ad used a generic template and the “out now” label was not removed for Metroid Prime 4. The station’s tunnel was covered in banners showcasing the Switch 2’s game library, further supporting the idea of a simple oversight.
While Nintendo previously surprise-released Metroid Prime Remastered for Switch in 2023, a similar early launch for Metroid Prime 4 appears unlikely. Fans can also look forward to the upcoming Donkey Kong release next month.
Metroid Prime 4 is currently scheduled for a 2025 release. The Switch 2 version is expected to feature improved resolution and frame rates, as well as new functionalities like Joy-Con 2 mouse support.
