Nintendo’s Switch 2 has become the fastest-selling Nintendo hardware ever in the United States, breaking records for launch week sales.
According to Circana analyst Mat Piscatella, over 1.1 million Switch 2 units were sold in the US during the week ending June 7, 2025. This marks an all-time launch week record for video game hardware in the country, surpassing the previous record held by Sony’s PlayStation 4. These figures exclude purchases made through the My Nintendo Store.
Additionally, 79% of US buyers purchased the exclusive Switch 2 launch title, Mario Kart World, either individually or as part of system bundles.
In terms of physical game sales for the Switch 2 in the US, Mario Kart World leads, followed by Cyberpunk 2077 and Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Switch 2 Edition. The new Mario Kart title also dominated software sales in other regions during its first week.
Earlier reports from Nintendo revealed that over 3.5 million Switch 2 units were sold globally within the first four days, setting a new record for the fastest Nintendo hardware sales worldwide.
