TP-Link has introduced new security cameras under its Tapo smart home brand, featuring 4K resolution and enhanced capabilities for indoor and outdoor use. The lineup includes battery-powered 4K cameras with solar charging and a new central hub, the Tapo HomeBase H500, which offers facial recognition, expanded local storage, and Matter support for smart home integration.

The updated battery-powered Tapo MagCam series offers 8MP 4K footage with Starlight color night vision for clearer low-light images. The lineup includes the standard Tapo MagCam 4K Solar ($149.99) and the pan-tilt Tapo VistaCam 360 Solar ($169.99). Both cameras feature built-in solar charging on their mounts and support 24/7 recording on battery power, a rare feature among wireless cameras.

TP-Link achieves continuous recording by lowering the frame rate when no motion is detected, then switching to higher quality upon activity. The cameras can last up to 55 days on a single charge and require just 45 minutes of sunlight daily to stay powered.

A wired version of the VistaCam, the Tapo C560WS ($99.99), supports 24/7 recording at 25 FPS and on-device facial recognition.

All new Tapo cameras support local recording via microSD cards, the Tapo Cloud service, or the new HomeBase hub. They feature free AI-powered smart alerts for pets, people, and vehicles, processed locally. Pan-tilt models also offer auto-tracking for detected subjects.

For indoor use, the Tapo RoomCam360 ($59.99) delivers 4K pan-tilt coverage with a privacy shutter and smart alerts for people, pets, vehicles, and sound detection such as baby crying or glass breaking.

TP-Link also released the budget-friendly HybridCam series starting at $30. These 2K-capable wired cameras are weatherproof and support pan-tilt movement, sound detection, and multi-mount options. The standout model, Tapo HybridCam Duo ($69.99), features dual 3MP cameras: one with 360-degree pan-tilt and telephoto zoom, and a fixed wide-angle lens with synchronized smart tracking. A 4K solar variant was announced but has not yet launched.

The Tapo HomeBase H500 hub, priced at $149.99, centralizes control for up to 16 Tapo cameras and ONVIF-compatible devices. It offers 16GB of local storage, expandable to 16TB via external drives, and supports Ethernet and dual-band Wi-Fi. The HomeBase enables local facial recognition for connected cameras and includes a tablet mount with USB charging, HDMI output for TVs or monitors, and built-in microphone and speaker for intercom functions.

Crucially, the HomeBase acts as a Matter controller over Wi-Fi, allowing integration of Matter-compatible smart home devices from Tapo and other brands into the Tapo app. Supported device categories include lighting, sensors, switches, plugs, and door locks, facilitating unified automation and control.
