Oakley Meta glasses are set to launch this Friday, following the release of Ray-Ban Meta glasses. These smart glasses feature a camera, microphones, and speakers, but do not include a display.
The glasses support multiple functions, including capturing photos and videos, playing music, podcasts, and audiobooks, making and receiving calls, and sharing a first-person view on WhatsApp, Messenger, or Instagram video calls. They also offer speech translation, QR code scanning, and access to Meta AI, a large language model assistant that can analyze objects in view through the camera. Additionally, some phone notifications can be read aloud.
Ray-Ban Meta glasses come in three styles: Wayfarer, Headliner, and Skyler. Each style is available with four lens types—Clear, Sun, Polarized, and Transitions—and offers various frame and lens color options.
To maintain privacy, a white LED on the front pulses whenever the camera is active, signaling to those nearby.
